Former French Rap Star Diam’s Reflects on Islam and Solitude in Rare Social Media Post
Former rapper Diam’s has again addressed her fans on social media. This time, the one who definitively ended her career after her conversion to Islam is speaking about her loneliness.
"I have found that loneliness is the most restful thing for the heart," wrote the former star of French rap. After her conversion to Islam, Mélanie Georgiades, alias Diam’s, seems to have found the path to inner peace.
Far from the showbiz, she is involved in her family life, her Big Up Project association and writing. To her credit, two published books. Mecca is where she feels better.
Her conversion to Islam was not easy, however. "It was a big shock for the French. They saw me as a singer and then one day the paparazzi took a photo of me in front of the mosque. People wondered how it was possible. The veil, it’s impossible for them, you know. And at first, I didn’t talk to the media about it, because I didn’t know what to say. Faith, it’s very difficult to explain," recalls the interpreter of "Ma souffrance".
