Prominent French Imam: Homosexuality Compatible with Islam, Challenges Traditional Views

Invited on France Info, Imam Tareq Oubrou spoke on several very controversial topics in Islam, including homosexuality, forced conversion or the veil.
For Tareq Oubrou: "a Muslim can be homosexual; that does not mean he is no longer Muslim."
Continuing his explanations, the Imam of Bordeaux, known for his public positions in favor of a more liberal Islam, acknowledged the existence of homosexuals in the Muslim community.
He felt that the homosexual Muslim is better than a Muslim who does not pray his five prayers. "The pillars of Islam, it’s not heterosexuality," he added.
According to Tarek Oubrou, "homosexuals lived peacefully in the Middle East. Punishing a homosexual does not exist in classical canon law," he argued.
