Former PJD Leader Benkirane Sets Conditions for Party Return in Morocco

While some members of the Party of Justice and Development (PJD) are preparing his return to the head of the political party, the former secretary general, Abdelilah Benkirane sets his conditions.
Abdelilah Benkirane reacted to the decision to postpone the ordinary congress of the PJD, which should take place at the end of October during the extraordinary congress of the party. His candidacy for the presidency of the party will depend on this decision. "After taking note of the approval by the National Council of the Party of Justice and Development on the proposal of the outgoing general secretariat to set a one-year deadline for holding the ordinary national congress, I consider that I am not interested in a candidacy if the extraordinary congress approved this proposal," writes the former secretary general of the Islamist party in a handwritten letter published on his Facebook page.
After his defeat in the legislative, municipal and regional elections, the PJD is trying to project itself into the future.
