Former Moroccan Soccer Player Dies by Suicide in El Arjat Prison
A former player of AS FAR, convicted for his involvement in a murder case, committed suicide on Tuesday. The tragedy took place at the local prison of El Arjat.
It was in the courtyard of the penitentiary that the young man named Saad hanged himself, reported H24info. The deceased, according to testimonies, had a promising career. He had played in the youth category of AS FAR, before joining Wydad de Tanger in the third division of the Moroccan championship.
But everything turned into a nightmare when the Rabat Court of Appeal ordered his pre-trial detention for a case of attempted murder.
During his prison stay, his psychological state became worrying to the point that he had been transferred to the Al-Razi hospital where he remained from November 9 to 22. It was once back that he committed the fatal act by hanging himself in the prison yard.
His body was transferred to the Moulay Abdellah regional hospital, in order to determine the exact circumstances and causes that led him to commit suicide, writes the same source.
