Former Moroccan Lawmaker Arrested for Alleged COVID Test Fraud in Police Exam Scheme

A former MP was arrested in Errachidia by the BNPJ. He is accused of having helped a police exam candidate obtain a false Covid-19 test certificate. An investigation has been opened.
The former MP, currently holding the position of regional secretary of the PJD party in Errachidia, as well as the administrator of the Moulay Chérif hospital and three brothers, were arrested by the BNPJ, reports Assabah. The former PJD parliamentarian is said to have helped a young man infected with the coronavirus obtain a false negative test certificate, in order to take a police exam.
According to the facts that led to the arrest of the five people, the candidate had successfully passed the written exams of the police officer exam. Summoned to take the oral exam, the candidate had to provide a negative Covid-19 test certificate. The candidate, tested positive for Covid-19, his brothers called on the Islamist leader to intervene with the administrator of the Moulay Chérif hospital to provide him with a negative test.
But the officials of the Royal Institute of Police in Kenitra quickly realized that it was a fake certificate and arrested the candidate, who confessed the facts by citing the former MP. The investigators informed the DGSN, and the public prosecutor’s office authorized the BNPJ to arrest the individuals involved in the case for a thorough investigation. The former MP was questioned by the BNPJ before being brought, with the other accused, before the public prosecutor’s office near the court of appeal of Errachidia. The accused are being prosecuted for forgery of official documents and endangering others.
