French Tourists Arrested at Agadir Airport for Fake Covid-19 Test Results

Five French nationals who were about to board a flight to their country were arrested on Saturday at Agadir’s Massira airport. The travelers had presented fake negative Covid-19 test certificates.

According to the Agadir24 website, five French tourists provided fake negative screening tests at one of the airport checkpoints, the origin of which is still unknown to the investigators. The passengers reportedly refused to reveal the name of the forger.

An investigation has been opened by the Agadir police department elements, in order to trace back the network, especially, continues the same source, since the resumption of air links, many travelers, both Moroccans and foreigners, have been apprehended in possession of falsified certificates.

To encourage the return of tourists and boost a struggling sector, several incentive measures have been put in place to facilitate access to Morocco. For operators, it is rather a poisoned gift. The use of fake PCR tests has multiplied the risk of the appearance of new clusters in the various tourist cities of the kingdom.
