Former Harhoura Mayor Faces Corruption Probe as Indictment File Reaches Court

New developments in the Faouzi Benalal case. The elements of the Judicial Brigade of the Royal Gendarmerie have officially transmitted the detailed indictment file of the former president of the commune of Harhoura to the Attorney General of the King at the Court of Appeal of Rabat.
The public prosecutor’s office is currently examining the file, before it is brought before the investigating judge, confirm sources at LesEco.ma. The judge will then be responsible for initiating proceedings against the Istiqlal leader.
In October 2018, Faouzi Benalal had been dismissed from his position as president of the commune of Harhoura for administrative dysfunctions and the awarding of public contracts under questionable conditions.
The lawyer, Mohamed El Ghaloussi, president of the National Association for the Protection of Public Funds, was also heard by the National Brigade of the Gendarmerie, confirm the same sources. The legal procedure was initiated following a complaint from this association.
