Moroccan Authorities Bust 6-Member Copper Cable Theft Ring in Harhoura

The Royal Gendarmerie of the urban municipality of Harhoura has apprehended a gang of thieves composed of six individuals. They specialized in the theft of copper cables.
The thieves were arrested last Wednesday at a control checkpoint, located on Prince Moulay Abdellah Avenue in Harhoura. The Royal Gendarmerie discovered "the stolen copper cables in the middle of a cargo of goods transported by a utility vehicle". The six traffickers, including a receiver established in Casablanca, were presented yesterday before the public prosecutor’s office at the Criminal Chamber of the Court of Appeal of Rabat, reports le360.
They are accused of "theft of public property, illegal transportation of stolen goods, receiving and complicity", according to a source interviewed at the Harhoura gendarmerie. The stolen copper cables came from public streetlights.
According to the same source, the urban municipality of Harhoura is investing in the change of the electrical lighting system, along the large avenue of Prince Moulay Abdellah, leading to Rabat.
