Former Moroccan Minister Faces Scrutiny Over Public Contract Irregularities

The former delegate minister in charge of the Civil Service, Mohamed Mobdii, who is also the president of the council of Fqih Ben Salah, as well as entrepreneurs and public officials, could face legal proceedings. The cause is the dysfunctions and irregularities noted in the management of the city’s public contracts.
The National Instance for the Protection of Public Property in the Casablanca-Settat region has filed a complaint with the Attorney General of the King to denounce the numerous dysfunctions and irregularities noted in the management of public contracts in the city of Fqih Ben Salah, reports Al Massae. According to the complaint, the Instance has asked the prosecutor of the king near the court of appeal of Casablanca to conduct an investigation.
This complaint from the instance follows the publication of a report from the General Inspection of the Interior on the management of public contracts at the city council of Fqih Ben Salah. In this report, the financial inspectors noted that several tender files and contracts launched had been canceled or declared unsuccessful. As a result, the city is facing transport and infrastructure problems.
President of the Fqih Ben Salah council since 1996, Mohamed Mobdii is taking big risks. He could be brought before the competent courts if it turns out that he is responsible for the misappropriation of public funds.
