Foreign Tourist Assaulted in Fez, Morocco; Suspect with Mental Health Issues Arrested

An individual, apparently suffering from psychiatric disorders, was arrested on Friday in Fez for his alleged involvement in the assault of a foreign national with a bladed weapon.
According to the DGSN, the defendant legally resides in Morocco, but has no identity document. The assault occurred while the victim was in discussion with another person, on the public highway. The same source specifies that the foreign national was injured in the head with a blunt iron object, without any apparent reason or clear motive.
Transferred to the hospital to receive the necessary care, her health condition is currently stable.
The DGSN also points out that the defendant was seized by a hysterical crisis, after being caught in his flight by the citizens. Informed, the police carried out a raid at the crime scene and proceeded to his arrest. Preliminary investigations and investigations have revealed that the suspect had previously undergone psychiatric and neurological treatment in a specialized hospital.
For the needs of the investigation, he was placed in custody.
