Flight Attendant Faces Charges After Altercation with Police Over Dress Code at Casablanca Court

An altercation broke out last week at the Court of First Instance in Casablanca between a flight attendant and a police officer, who had denied her access because of her outfit deemed too daring. The young woman would have reacted in a very aggressive way by attacking the police institution and physically assaulting the police officer.
According to the daily Assabah, the accused was prosecuted by the Criminal Chamber near the Court of First Instance for insulting a public official during the exercise of his duties, violence, assault and offense against an organized institution.
The person concerned had presented herself at the Court accompanied by her brother who was preparing documents for a mixed marriage with a foreigner. Exasperated by his remarks, she would have physically assaulted the agent and insulted the institution of national security, the newspaper claims.
The Public Prosecutor’s Office was seized and the flight attendant was placed in custody for the purposes of the investigation. Brought before the Attorney General, she failed to regain her composure, and rejected any attempt at reconciliation with the police officer.
Asking its agents not to give up their rights, the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) has joined the case as a civil party. The trial is due to take place this week.
