Rabat Police Officer Arrested for Alleged Kidnapping and Sexual Assault While Intoxicated

Prosecuted for kidnapping, sequestration and rape, a policeman was taken into custody at the disposal of the investigation conducted under the supervision of the General Prosecutor’s Office near the Court of Appeal of Rabat.
The officer was intercepted at a police checkpoint at the entrance to Rabat, following cries for help from a person accompanying him.
Questioned, the young woman said she had been kidnapped and held hostage by her companion after he abused her, under threat of his service weapon.
Arrested and taken to the headquarters of the Judicial Police, the policeman, who was in an advanced state of intoxication, flatly denied the allegations of the young woman, whom he accused of manipulation.
According to the daily Assabah, the victim was actually the suspect’s girlfriend. For fear of being caught in flagrante delicto of adultery, she would have set up this stratagem in order to escape the police check.
Pending the completion of the investigation ordered by the General Prosecutor’s Office, the individual, kept in extended custody, risks a conviction for adultery, drunk driving and public drunkenness, adds the daily.
