Moroccan Police Inspector Caught on Camera Stealing from Detainee, Faces Investigation

A police officer has been the subject of a judicial investigation opened by the Tetouan police prefecture since Saturday. This is all the more serious as this theft was filmed by surveillance cameras.
According to the press release from the General Directorate of National Security, a person in custody filed a complaint against the police inspector, accusing him of extorting a sum of money. This complaint led to an investigation opened by the prefectural service of the Wilaya of Tetouan, under the supervision of the public prosecutor’s office.
It was decided to place the accused in custody, following the authentication of the criminal acts by the surveillance cameras in addition to the discovery and restitution of part of the extorted sum during the control operation.
The inspector has consequently been temporarily suspended from his duties, pending the completion of the investigation intended to determine the disciplinary sanctions that will be taken against him.
