Moroccan Lawmaker’s Son Jailed for Assaulting Police Officer in Parking Dispute

The son of a parliamentarian from the Party of Justice and Development(PJD) and his friend have been incarcerated in the civil prison of Benguerir, by the King’s Prosecutor at the Court of First Instance.
The two men were prosecuted for assaulting a traffic officer. According to the Hibapress website, the police officer was taken to the emergency room, with a broken nose.
The deputy’s son would have been ordered by the police officer to move his car, which was parked in a no-parking area. Refusing to comply, he would have, according to the same source, hurled obscene insults at the police officer, before coming to blows with him.
After being held in custody, the two accused were placed in pre-trial detention at the civil prison of Benguerir. Their case was to be tried in court yesterday, Monday, September 30.
