Moroccan Comedian Amine Radi’s Assault Claim Prompts Police Investigation in Casablanca

The Directorate General of National Security (DGSN) has reacted very quickly by deciding to open an investigation following the publication of a video showing an assault on Moroccan comedian Amine Radi. This took place yesterday in Casablanca.
In a statement, the DGSN indicates that the prefectural judicial police service of Casablanca has initiated an investigation "regarding the accusations attributed to a police officer working at the Casablanca police prefecture, following the publication of a video on Facebook, showing an individual claiming to be the victim of physical and verbal assault by the aforementioned police officer".
Amine Radi claims, with video evidence, to have been insulted and physically assaulted during his arrest near the Tit Mellil bridge in Casablanca. The video, according to the DGSN, shows "altercations between the two parties after the video publisher’s attempt to film the police officer’s face".
In addition to this investigation, the general inspectorate of the national security has been seized and will investigate "the professional misconduct attributed to the police officer, as well as the responsibilities and disciplinary measures in light of the investigation results".
