Flash Floods Submerge Moroccan Town of Ksar Sghir, Causing Extensive Damage
In just a few hours of torrential rain, the town of Ksar Sghir found itself under water with significant material damage.
The residents, surprised by the sudden rise in water levels, were saved thanks to the civil protection elements. "Thank God, there were no victims. But the material damage is considerable. Our car was swept away by the Oued and our house was flooded.
Never seen before since we’ve been living here," declares a still distraught resident. Another, whose vehicle is filled with mud and water, managed to get out of his house with the help of his neighbors. He explains that he has never experienced such a situation. "This is the first time it has rained so much. In previous years, it rained, but we didn’t have so much damage," reports 2M.
Faced with the extent of the damage, the least affected residents go to the rescue of those who have lost almost everything. The local authorities, as well as the civil protection elements, provide assistance as best they can to the victims. According to some, the lack of infrastructure could explain the situation, which will become more complicated in the coming days. The weather forecast announces new precipitation for the days to come.
