Heavy Floods Ravage Tétouan, Morocco: 275 Homes Damaged, No Casualties Reported

On Monday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., heavy rains hit the city of Tétouan, with a cumulative total of 100 mm, causing major floods and flooding. Although the material damage is enormous, there were no injuries, according to the authorities of the province of Tétouan.
Among the damage caused by this torrential rain, more than 275 houses were affected and recorded in several neighborhoods of the city. 11 light vehicles were swept away by the waters and the exterior walls of some establishments and other outbuildings were partially destroyed. Traffic was disrupted or interrupted on several road axes in the city.
The local authorities mobilized all the necessary human and logistical resources to relieve the population, mitigate the effects of the floods, preserve the safety of people and property, and restore traffic flow.
