The first homicide of the year in Madrid targets a Moroccan
The year begins in blood for the Moroccan community in Spain. A 38-year-old Moroccan national became, on Thursday evening, the first homicide victim recorded in Madrid in 2026. The man was fatally stabbed during a fight.
The tragedy took place in the Villaverde neighborhood. During a violent altercation between two groups, the victim received several knife wounds all over his body. Found in critical condition by the police, the man in his thirties did not survive his injuries despite being rushed to the hospital.
While the criminal police have opened an investigation, they are currently ruling out the trail of a settling of scores between the sadly famous "Latin gangs". It would rather be a brawl that tragically got out of hand.
This murder is part of a particularly violent night for the Spanish capital. Almost at the same time, in the neighboring town of Parla, two other men were stabbed in separate incidents. A "red night" that revives concerns about the rise in insecurity and the use of bladed weapons in Madrid.
