Fiorentina Coach Explains Amrabat’s Limited Playing Time After World Cup Heroics

Back at Fiorentina after his brilliant participation in the 2022 Qatar World Cup, Moroccan international Sofyan Amrabat spends more time on the bench. The coach of the Italian club explains.
Sofyan Amrabat played for 26 minutes out of 180 for Fiorentina, coming off the bench in a 1-1 draw with Monza, but remained on the bench during Saturday’s 2-1 win against Sassuolo, reports The Sacremento Bee. The coach of the Italian club cites the reasons behind this benching. "Amrabat arrived from the World Cup totally destroyed, he needs time to rest. [...] He finished this tournament with pain-relieving injections allowing him to even play. He still has problems because of that, had only four training sessions with us and he himself confirmed to me that he could not play 90 minutes," he explained in a press conference.
And he added: "I could have put him [against Sassuolo], but I didn’t want to take any risks. When he’s back at 100%, he’ll be a real bonus for us."
