Terminal 1 of Fès-Saïs airport has been welcoming domestic flight passengers since November 4. This measure to separate the flows between domestic and international flight passengers aims to meet the requirements of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and to streamline traffic at terminal 2, dedicated to international flights.

This platform will now be dedicated to national traffic, in order to comply with the recommendations of this international body, says the airport director, Noureddine Laghni.

According to him, terminal 1 will now handle the daily flights to Casablanca, Marrakech, Agadir and Errachidia. It has a capacity of 500,000 passengers, he adds. The same official also said that the Fès-Saïs airport is about to be connected to the twelve regions of the Kingdom. Thus, the frequency of Fès-Marrakech flights will increase from 3 to 5 weekly rotations.

As for the flights to Agadir and Errachidia, they are operated at a rate of two frequencies per week. Thanks to these services, the airport recorded some 1,244 domestic movements (until November 4, 2019), up 22% compared to 2018. These flights transported 82,244 passengers, an increase of 34% for domestic traffic, reports l’Économiste.

Passenger traffic at Fès-Saïss airport has also increased by 12.36% from January 1 to November 4, 2019, compared to the same period last year. In total, 1,211,691 travelers transited through this airport during the first ten months of the current year, thus recording an increase of 10% compared to the same period in 2018, specifies the same media.
