Fellaini Hints at Possible Return to Belgian National Team

The Belgian international of Moroccan origin Marouane Fellaini, 33, talks about his likely return to the Red Devils.
"You know, I’ve done my time on the national team but, if they call me back, I could think about it. The door remains open," he said in an interview with the newspaper La Dernière Heure. For now, the former Standard player says he is focusing primarily on his club (Shandong Luneng - China). "The rest, we’ll see in due course," he said.
In March 2019, Marouane had announced his international retirement after twelve years under the national team jersey. But Roberto Martinez, the Red Devils coach, would like to see him play for the Netherlands again. "The door is always open to players who are still active on the pitch. On the one hand, we want to allow young people to grow up with the Red Devils, but on the other, we have to keep an eye on players who can still bring us something. We don’t have a large enough pool of players that would allow us to do without a talent or an experienced player like Marouane," he told the daily Le Soir.
Marouane Fellaini’s passage with the Red Devils is summarized as: 87 caps and 18 goals.
