Belgium Coach Considers Fellaini Comeback for Euro 2020 Squad

The former Belgian-Moroccan international, Marouane Fellaini, could play again for Belgium in the context of Euro 2020. The information was provided by coach Roberto Martinez.

Ahead of the first matches of the European championship, Belgium has planned two preparatory matches that will allow them to take the pulse of their squad and finalize the expected list for June.

These various confrontations are expected respectively on March 27 and 30, with Portugal and Switzerland. For La Dernière Heure, the coach of the Red Devils has an idea in mind: to convince the former international, Marouane Fellaini, to return to the national team.

Although he retired last March, the former Red Devils midfielder could be part of Roberto Martinez’s squad. The coach intends to call him back to the national team in view of his performance. "Marouane has a unique profile," said Roberto Martinez, during a dinner-conference of the Club 44. "As a coach, I naturally prefer to have the widest possible range of different profiles at my disposal. We were able to see at the World Cup what Marouane was capable of bringing. He is very difficult to replace. I have therefore always kept an eye on his performances," stressed coach Martinez.

He also acknowledges that the former international has been making a name for himself since his transfer to China last season. Confident in Big Mo’s abilities, even though he has not been called up since October 2018, the Red Devils coach does not want to let go: "I’m a dreamer. If it turns out that I need him and he is physically fit, he could obviously be a possibility. For now, we are only in February and the list will be released in early June. Right now, Marouane’s league is on hold. We’ll also see what happens there with the coronavirus," said Roberto Martinez.
