Far-Right Vox Party Calls for Sanctions on Morocco Amid Migration Crisis

In contrast to the Popular Party (PP) which calls on the Spanish government to restore diplomatic relations with Morocco and adopt measures to limit the massive influx of migrants, the far-right party Vox is demanding sanctions against Morocco before any resumption of relations.
The Vox senator from Murcia, José Manuel Marín, has asked for the cancellation of the first point of the PP motion, relating to the restoration of diplomatic relations with Morocco, specifying that sanctions should be imposed on the kingdom for having caused the migration crisis in Ceuta, before any resumption of relations. In other words, the far-right party is demanding a strong diplomatic response from Spain.

The Popular Party rejected this amendment, arguing that it would empty the motion of its meaning. But Senator Marín insists on the need for sanctions against Morocco, which has developed "a strategy of territorial expansion, invasion and extortion of Spain, which for many years, however, has granted it millions of euros in aid." "The thing with Morocco is blackmail and lack of gratitude towards Spain," said the Vox senator from Murcia.
The Spanish government "must give an energetic response to Morocco by taking diplomatic, economic and security measures against it, with the support of the European Union," Marín added, insisting that the government make "understand to Morocco that it is not possible to play with the security and sovereignty of Spain."
