Extreme Heat Wave Grips Morocco as Temperatures Soar to 48°C (118°F)

Several Moroccan provinces, including Marrakech, will experience a heat wave from Monday to Thursday, July 14, 2022, warns the General Directorate of Meteorology (DGM).
Morocco is suffocating under a persistent heatwave. Temperatures will fluctuate between 40 and 48°C in Sidi Slimane, Sidi Kacem, Tata, Taroudant, Assa-Zag and Es-Semara from Tuesday to Thursday, the DGM specifies in a red alert weather bulletin.
Similarly, temperatures of 40 to 45°C are expected on Monday, July 11 in the provinces of Ouezzane, Fès, Meknès, Moulay Yacoub, Taounate, El Hajeb, Sidi Slimane, Sidi Kacem, Khemisset, Fquih Ben Salah, Béni Mellal, Khouribga, Khénifra, Benslimane, Nouaceur, Berrechid, Settat, Sidi Bennour, Youssoufia, El Kelaa des Sraghna, Chichaoua and Rehamna. The same temperatures will be recorded in Marrakech, Errachidia, Zagora, Tata, Taroudant, Assa-Zag, Es-Semara and the interior of Larache, Kénitra, Oued Ed-dahab, Aousserd, Salé, Skhirate-Témara, Safi, Essaouira and Guelmim.
The DGM also announces that temperatures between 40 and 45°C will affect the provinces of Ouezzane, Fès, Taounate, Sefrou, El Hajeb, Moulay Yacoub, Meknès, Khémisset, Khouribga, Khénifra, Béni Mellal, Fquih Ben Salah, Benslimane, Sidi Bennour, Settat, Berrechid, Rehamna, Youssoufia, Marrakech, El Kelaa des Sraghna, Chichaoua, Zagora and the interior of the provinces of Larache, Kénitra, Salé, Skhirate-Témara and Guelmim from Tuesday to Thursday.
