Europa League: Moroccan Striker En-Nesyri Leads Sevilla’s Charge Against Juventus

With already 17 goals this season, Youssef En-Nesyri is a key player for Seville, who face Juventus this Thursday in the first leg of the Europa League semi-finals.
Youssef En-Nesyri is the pride of FC Seville. The Moroccan striker has made good progress since his return from the World Cup in Qatar and has managed to propel his team to the top by scoring at least one goal per game. After each Seville victory, Monchi, the club’s sporting director, never fails to congratulate the Moroccan international, aware of his decisive role in the team’s performance, which will be away at Juventus this Thursday for the first leg of the Europa League semi-finals.
José Luis Mendilibar, Seville’s third coach this season after Jorge Sampaoli and Julen Lopetegui, has trusted En-Nesyri, who, thanks to his goals, has allowed the team to move away from relegation and reach the Europa League semi-finals after eliminating Manchester United in the quarter-finals. However, upon his arrival in Seville on March 21, the Basque coach did not appreciate the Moroccan player. But on the advice of Monchi, he gradually got closer to the star striker.
"He told me he was going to reach 20 goals this season. We made a bet and he’s already close," Mendilibar points out. En-Nesyri has already scored 17 goals in all competitions this season, only two before the 2022 World Cup in Qatar and 15 since his return from the international competition. "The World Cup changed his life," they say at FC Seville. The player scored the decisive goal against Portugal in the quarter-finals of the World Cup, qualifying Morocco for the semi-finals.
In great form, En-Nesyri is attracting the interest of several European clubs. He turned down offers from West Ham and Nice in January, preferring to continue with Seville, a club he joined in the January 2019 transfer window from Leganés for 20 million euros. Seville is ready to sell him in the next summer transfer window if it receives an interesting offer for the player.
