Moroccan Striker En-Nesyri Propels Sevilla in Europa League with Brace Against Man United

Youssef En-Nesyri is having a stunning season with FC Sevilla. Thanks to his brace against Manchester United (3-0) in the Europa League quarter-final second leg, Sevilla is one step away from the final of this tournament, which will be played on May 31 in Budapest.

Sevilla owes its victories in 2023 largely to Youssef En-Nesyri. Already the author of 12 goals in all competitions since his return from the World Cup, the Moroccan striker was the main architect of the victory against Manchester United (3-0) in the Europa League quarter-final second leg with a brace, recalls El Desmarque.

The Moroccan international is living one of the best seasons of his career, after that of 2021 when he scored 24 goals in all competitions (18 in La Liga and six in the Champions League), propelling Sevilla towards the top, just nine points behind Atletico Madrid.

Before his departure for the World Cup in Qatar, the Moroccan international had only scored two goals. But at the World Cup, he shone and contributed to Morocco’s historic feat of reaching the semi-finals, including his goal against Portugal in the quarter-finals. Since the beginning of this year, En-Nesyri has already scored 14 goals in 23 games with the Nervión club, or the equivalent of 0.6 goals per game.

In all competitions, the Moroccan striker is at 16 goals for a total of 63 goals scored by Sevilla, or 25% of the club’s goals. In 2023, Sevilla has scored 38 goals, 14 of which were scored by En-Nesyri, or 36%. The player has already totaled 51 goals with Sevilla, a club he joined in January 2020, making him one of the ten best foreign scorers in the club.
