End of the run in Casablanca: A 26-year-old French drug trafficker arrested at the airport
A 26-year-old French national, wanted by Interpol for international drug trafficking, was arrested on Friday at the Mohammed V airport in Casablanca. He is subject to an extradition procedure to the French authorities.
The national security services proceeded to arrest the suspect during his passage through the border controls at the airport. The check in the database of the International Criminal Police Organization revealed that the individual was the subject of a "red notice" issued at the request of the National Central Bureau in Paris.
The man is suspected of maintaining close ties with an organized criminal network, specialized in the international trafficking of narcotics and psychotropic substances. This arrest puts an end to the run of this young man whose cross-border illicit activities were actively monitored by the judicial authorities of his country.
In accordance with the directives of the competent public prosecutor’s office, the suspect was placed in custody pending the outcome of the extradition procedure. The National Central Bureau (Interpol Rabat), attached to the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN), officially notified its French counterparts of the arrest in order to finalize the necessary legal procedures.
