Eid al-Fitr 2023: Paris Mosque Confirms Celebration on April 21

After the CFCM, it is the Paris Mosque that has just confirmed the date of Eid al-Fitr which will therefore take place this Friday, April 21, 2023 after the meeting of the religious commission and the imams of the National Council of Imams (CNI). Here is the full press release.

The undersigned Muslim Federations met on Thursday, April 20, 2023 at 6 p.m. at the Grand Mosque of Paris, in the presence of the religious commission and the imams of the National Council of Imams (CNI), to decide on the date of the Eid al-Fitr feast marking the end of the blessed month of Ramadan 2023-1444/H.

It took into account, on the one hand, the results of the scientific work on the adoption of the calculation, the universal astronomical data, the data relating to the observation of the moon in France and around the world on the other hand.

Finally, the Muslim Federations, their religious commission and the imams of the National Council of Imams (CNI) took note of the report of the Paris Observatory dated February 23, 2023 which concludes that the crescent will be visible in the evening of April 20 in several countries and in particular some Muslim countries with the help of optical instruments.

Given these scientific data, the Muslim Federations, their religious commission and the imams of the National Council of Imams (CNI) elsewhere, announce to all Muslims in France that the Aid el Fit of the year 2023-1444/H is set for Friday, April 21, 2023.
Favoring the unity and serenity required by our religion in the exercise of religious practices and more particularly the fourth pillar of Islam which is the fast (sawm) of the blessed month of Ramadan, the Muslim Federations after exchanges and consultations, have reached a consensual decision.
The sense of responsibility has led the Muslim Federations to ensure that this announcement is founded and common, for the unity and well-being of the Muslims of our country. The Muslim Federations extend their best wishes to all Muslims in France and around the world.

May this day of celebration be synonymous with peace, joy and sharing.
