Drug Smuggling Foiled: 3kg of Cannabis Hidden in Nuts Seized at Tanger Med Port

A mixed brigade composed of customs agents and others from the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) in charge of controlling vehicles crossing the port of Tanger Med to Europe intercepted a freight vehicle destined for Gibraltar containing nuts stuffed with cannabis resin. 3kg of drugs were seized and the driver was arrested.
A rather surprising discovery at the port of Tanger Med. A shipment containing 3 kg of cannabis hidden in small nuts. The goods were supposed to arrive in Gibraltar but control agents suspected its nature, reports Assabah. A routine check proved necessary. With the help of sniffer dogs from the canine brigade and the scanning of a scanner, the suspicions were confirmed. The security services proceeded to a manual inspection of the goods, and discovered that the nuts were stuffed with cannabis resin.
The operation resulted in the seizure of 3 kilograms of cannabis resin and the arrest of the vehicle driver, a 36-year-old Moroccan. After his arrest, he was questioned by the elements of the judicial police brigade of Tanger Med. He hinted that he was unaware that the nuts contained cannabis.
For now, the investigation is ongoing to determine the origin of the seized goods.
