DRC Offers Players $1 Million Bonus for World Cup Playoff Win Against Morocco

For the World Cup playoffs against Morocco, the Democratic Republic of Congo has deployed big means to motivate its players. One million dollars in case of victory against the Atlas Lions.
This amount has been promised by the Congolese government to encourage the national team for the double confrontation of March 25 and 29, local media report, specifying that the 25 Leopards will each pocket $20,000 per match.
For the Minister of Sports, Serge Nkonde, this motivation reflects "the government’s willingness to see the country qualify for the World Cup in Qatar."
"It is a historic opportunity that we have. We have received clear instructions from the President of the Republic to support the team," said Prime Minister Sama Lukonde. The last participation of the DRC in a World Cup dates back to 1974.
