Deadly Waves Claim Two Lives on Rabat Coast as Morocco Faces Extreme Weather

Dangerous waves 4 to 6 meters high hit the Moroccan coast last weekend. In Rabat, a couple of lovers learned this the hard way, finding themselves in the trough of the ocean, literally swallowed by a breaking wave.
Sitting on a rock in the coastal area of the El Akkari district in Rabat, two lovers were surprised by the rising swell, forming a belt loop around them.
Dragged by devastating waves, in the midst of extreme weather conditions, the two young people were battered by the ocean before disappearing.
Despite the great efforts made by the security and civil protection services to find the bodies, it was impossible to locate any traces of them. According to witnesses on the spot, the young man’s remains were later washed ashore in the evening.
