Dakhla Ramps Up COVID-19 Prevention: Free Masks and Awareness Campaign Launched

Awareness and prevention operations for the population have been strengthened in Dakhla. The objective is to ensure compliance with the preventive measures enacted by the health authorities to curb the spread of the coronavirus.

This is an initiative in which civil society associations have collaborated. It has made it possible to distribute free protective masks to citizens and to remind them of the importance of respecting the preventive measures put in place by the competent authorities, namely compliance with social distancing and hygiene measures, reports La Map.

Placards and banners have also been made and installed on certain streets of the Pearl of the South where crowds are observed in order to encourage the wearing of masks. According to the president of the Maroc Industrie Association, Abdlilah Lagnaoui, the awareness campaigns continue regularly with the local authorities and representatives of the African communities in Dakhla in order to raise awareness among citizens and merchants and overcome this crisis which requires a collective and solidarity mobilization.

As for Adahi Daniel, an Ivorian national and vice-president of the association of immigrants in Morocco, Dakhla section, he indicates that he has stepped up awareness-raising among the sub-Saharan community in Dakhla on the awareness of the dangers of this virus and the respect of barrier gestures.

In addition, screening operations are carried out at the entrance to the city of Dakhla (kilometer point 25), at the port and at the airport in order to avoid a widespread spread of the virus and to facilitate the work of detecting contact cases. The objective is to monitor the epidemiological situation in the region and to prevent a resurgence of the coronavirus.
