Five individuals, including two girls, aged between 24 and 27, were arrested on Thursday morning by the judicial police of Berrechid. They were involved in activities related to a criminal network operating in car theft and drug and psychotropic trafficking.
The five suspects all had criminal records and were even the subject of nationwide arrest warrants. "They were apprehended during a security operation carried out in the Deroua area, around Casablanca," the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) said in a statement.
According to the same source, the search operations led to the seizure of 3.5 kg of cannabis and 1,000 ecstasy tablets, as well as bladed weapons, a utility vehicle, mobile phones and money that could be the proceeds of their criminal acts.
The suspects were taken into custody, at the disposal of the judicial investigation led under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office, to determine all the criminal acts they are accused of. "This operation is part of the efforts deployed by the DGSN services to track down individuals wanted nationwide in various criminal cases," the statement concluded.
