Coronavirus-Positive Mother Delivers Healthy Baby in Tangier Hospital
A woman tested positive gave birth on Wednesday to a healthy baby at the Mohammed VI Hospital in Tangier. This is the first case of a woman infected with the new coronavirus (Covid-19) giving birth in the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region.
Transferred from Al Kortobi Hospital where she was being treated, the pregnant young mother was taken care of at the Mohammed VI Hospital, by a team of doctors and nurses. After the medical examinations carried out, she gave birth by caesarean section in the maternity ward dedicated to pregnant women infected with Covid-19.
For the head of the gynecology and obstetrics department at Tangier University Hospital, Professor Saad Benkirane, this is the first case of a woman (21 years old) infected with Covid-19 giving birth at the hospital. According to him, the caesarean delivery went well, in compliance with the necessary measures to protect the health of the mother, the newborn and the medical staff mobilized.
According to the first official of this hospital, four new cases of coronavirus infection recorded in Tangier are pregnant women. They are closely monitored by the medical staff and their condition remains stable.
