US Consulate in Morocco Revokes Recently Issued Visas, Citing ’Additional Procedures’

The American visa, recently issued to several Moroccans and subsequently canceled by the services of the American Consulate in Casablanca, is causing controversy. Joshua Waggener, Spokesperson for the US Embassy in Morocco, provided clarification on the situation.
The joy of the Moroccans who had obtained these American visas was short-lived. Indeed, as soon as they had just obtained the precious document, they were invited to contact the consular services to file a new application. This information, announced by the US Consulate in Casablanca, indicates that these visas held by these Moroccans have been canceled "due to additional procedures undertaken after their issuance," according to the American authority who confided in HuffPost.
While for the moment nothing has leaked out about the number of Moroccans affected by this cancellation measure and the additional procedures in question, the persons concerned by this decision have been invited to fill out the form again and to accompany it with all the necessary supporting documents, in order to validate their visa application.
Josh Waggener, Spokesperson for the US Embassy in Morocco, noted that the number of canceled visas is very small, while reassuring that "the United States continues to welcome Moroccan nationals on its soil for tourism, study and business visits." As proof, the same source recalls that 20,000 visas were granted to Moroccans last year.
