US Ambassador to Morocco Still Absent After Two-Year Delay, Raising Concerns

Two years after the appointment of the US Ambassador to Morocco by President Donald Trump, he has still not joined his post in Rabat. "Unjustified delays", in relation to the US Congress, are at the origin of this long delay.
The new US Ambassador to the Kingdom of Morocco, David Fisher, has been awaiting his assignment for 584 days, knowing that the last four ambassadors had to wait 94 days to receive congressional approval.
Indeed, ambassadors appointed by the President must have the approval of the US Congress before taking up their respective posts. Some US sources suspect a deliberate act on the part of the Senate Democrats.
In an address to members of this institution, David Fisher stated that Morocco is among the United States’ oldest allies and that it offers many economic opportunities for trade, in addition to the free trade agreement that binds the two countries.
