Colas Rail Wins Contracts for Casablanca Tramway Expansion Project

Colas Rail will participate in the construction of the T3 and T4 lines of the Casablanca tramway. It has just won two new contracts.
The first contract, awarded by the local development company Casablanca Transport en Site Aménagé SA (Casa Transport SA), covers the electrification of these two new lines, Colas Rail said in a press release, stating that the T3 and T4 lines will strengthen the public transport offer in the most populous city in Morocco, which now has more than 4 million inhabitants. The T3 line will serve 20 stations over a length of 14 km of double-track platform, and the T4 line, 19 stations over a length of 12.5 km of double-track platform, the same source specifies.
With a total amount of 24 million euros, this contract includes studies, construction and commissioning of 25 km of overhead contact line as well as the provision of electrical power supply with the installation of 21 electrical substations.
The second contract covers the laying of 14 km of track and 11 track switches on lot 3, located in the city center of Casablanca, and concerns the two future tramway lines. The amount of this contract is ten million euros.
"We are making available to our client an expert team, which has been working for more than ten years on this type of project in Morocco. From the design office to the site engineers, including the QHSE support functions, it is a 100% Moroccan management that will lead this new project," assures Youssef Naimi, director of Colas Rail Maroc.
