Cocaine in Northern Morocco: the justice system ends the impunity of a drug baron

The criminal chamber of the court of first instance in Tangier has delivered its verdict after a series of hearings, the last of which was held on January 22. In addition to his prison sentence, the defendant was fined 560,000 dirhams for his direct involvement in the possession and trafficking of hard drugs, reports Tanja24.

The individual was apprehended by the Royal Gendarmerie in Ksar Sghir. He was the subject of a nationwide arrest warrant based on accurate information identifying him as the head of a network specializing in cocaine trafficking. After his arrest, he had been detained in the local prison in Tangier for the purposes of the investigation.

The criminal record of the convicted person reveals multiple previous convictions, including a custodial sentence for rapes committed in the region. Although he had been the subject of past investigations for international drug trafficking, the accused had benefited from the statute of limitations for these acts before this new conviction.

The security services are continuing their investigations on the ground in order to dismantle the entire criminal organization.
