An Algerian urinates in a stadium in Morocco, 3 months in prison

The court of first instance in Rabat sentenced, this Monday, January 19, 2026, the Algerian supporter Raouf Belkassmi to a sentence of three months in prison. This judicial decision comes after the broadcast of a video showing the individual engaging in an indecent act in the stands of a stadium during the Africa Cup of Nations.

The defendant was also ordered to pay a fine of 500 dirhams. He was prosecuted for public indecency and making statements contrary to good morals and public order against a person or group of people during sporting events. Before his trial, he was detained at the local El Arjat 1 prison.

The alleged facts took place at the Prince Moulay El Hassan stadium in Rabat during the match between Algeria and the Democratic Republic of Congo. The supporter had been filmed urinating in the stands, an act he had himself acknowledged in a video later broadcast on social media.

After his identification, the individual had been apprehended by the police in Casablanca before being brought before the courts under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office.
