Cisco prepares a major digital project in Morocco

Cisco and Cybastion announced this Monday, 31 August, the expansion of their partnership in Morocco. The stated objective is to contribute to the development of a “sovereign digital infrastructure,” according to the announcement published by Casablanca Finance City.

Behind this highly technical expression are several concrete projects. The partnership is intended to strengthen the protection of computer systems, develop cloud infrastructure and increase the digital capabilities available in the kingdom. Public institutions as well as private companies are directly concerned.

This initiative comes as Morocco is seeking precisely to retain greater control over its sensitive data and the infrastructures used to store and process it. The Digital Morocco 2030 strategy notably provides for the development of a sovereign cloud, particularly for public administration data.

For several months, Cisco has had an offering specifically designed for these types of needs. The American group explains that its so-called “Sovereign Critical Infrastructure” solutions enable organizations to retain greater control over their data, operations and networks, while strengthening their resilience to cyberattacks and service interruptions. This offering notably covers networks, servers, cybersecurity and IT management tools, Cisco specifies.

Morocco accelerates its efforts in cloud computing and cybersecurity

The new partnership is thus part of a much broader movement. Morocco is currently multiplying projects related to data centers, cloud computing, 5G and the security of its computer systems. The kingdom also aims to limit its dependence on infrastructure hosted or controlled from abroad for certain strategic data.

Cisco had also expanded its sovereign digital infrastructure offering in April 2026 to the whole of Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
