Morocco to Host 500-Megawatt AI Data Center, Backed by Naver and Nvidia Consortium

On the sidelines of the Viva Tech 2025 exhibition in Paris, Naver announces that it has created a consortium with chip maker Nvidia and Nexus Core Systems, an AI infrastructure specialist, and Llyods Capital, to build a next-generation AI mega-data center. This is a 500-megawatt data center. It will be powered by renewable energy and will serve as a sovereign AI computing platform for the Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) region, according to Korean JoongAng Daily. "Our goal is to provide sovereign AI services in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa," said a Naver representative. Naver Cloud will oversee the operation of the data center platform. A fully integrated suite of AI services and applications, based on advanced cloud infrastructure, will be offered by the consortium.

The first phase of the project is expected to start during the 4th quarter of 2025. It will include the deployment of a 40-megawatt AI supercomputing infrastructure equipped with NVIDIA’s latest Blackwell GPUs before the end of the year. After this stage, the center will gradually evolve to reach its maximum capacity of 500 megawatts. "Our skills and execution in Saudi Arabia have led to this global collaboration," said Chae Sun-joo, Naver’s strategy director. "We want to play a significant role in the European market through our cloud and AI."
