China Exports 1 Million Pediatric Pneumonia Vaccines to Morocco

China has sent an important batch of 13-valent conjugate pneumococcal vaccine to Morocco on Saturday. Enough to protect Moroccan children against pneumococcal infections.

In total, one million doses of 13-valent conjugate pneumococcal vaccine were exported to Morocco from the Chinese province of Yunnan (southwest) on May 21, reports CGTN. Developed by the Chinese laboratory Jiangsu Walvax Biotech, this vaccine is used for the treatment of 13 common infections caused by the bacterium streptococcus pneumonia in children over six weeks and under six years of age.

China independently developed a 13-valent pneumonia vaccine in 2019. Before this year, the only available vaccine was developed by the American pharmaceutical company Pfizer. Morocco has included this vaccine in its expanded vaccination program, in order to protect children against potentially fatal diseases.
