Chelsea’s Ziyech Recovers from Injury, Set for League Cup Final Against Liverpool
Moroccan international Hakim Ziyech is fit to face Liverpool on Sunday in the League Cup final. Substituted due to injury in the 60th minute during the match between Chelsea and Lille (2-0), counting for the round of 16 of the Champions League, the Moroccan player is doing well.
Hakim Ziyech’s injury "is not serious," we can read in the British press. The 28-year-old midfielder allowed Chelsea to take the lead in the first half thanks to an assist following a corner. But he will be replaced in the second half after a thigh injury, raising questions within the staff about his participation in the League Cup final against Liverpool on Sunday.
But there was more fear than harm. Thomas Tuchel will be able to count on the player who has become indispensable in recent matches. Since he decided to focus on his club career, Hakim Ziyech has joined the list of the most creative and talented players. Moreover, he intends to win as many trophies as possible, after those won during the UEFA Super Cup in August and the Club World Cup last weekend.
"Of course it’s difficult, but that’s why you play football, to win trophies. That’s what we’re trying to do. We’ve already won two this season and there are still four left," he had told the BBC.
