Chelsea’s Ziyech and Kovacic Injured in Champions League Win Over Lille

After a few difficult months, Moroccan international Hakim Ziyech has managed to establish himself with the Blues. On Tuesday, he went out injured in the 60th minute of the match against Lille in the Champions League round of 16. A blow for Chelsea who count on their offensive midfielder who has become indispensable.
In addition to Hakim Ziyech, his teammate Mateo Kovacic was also injured and came off in the 51st minute of play. Chelsea thus lost two players at the start of the second half of their Champions League round of 16 first leg against Lille. The match ended 2-0 in favor of the Londoners. Chelsea coach Thomas Tuchel hopes for positive news about the Moroccan international’s injury. This injury is a blow for the Blues who will have to face Liverpool on Sunday, February 27 at Wembley for the Carabao Cup final.
Hakim Ziyech, who had trouble finding his place at Chelsea, has been putting in good performances for a few months now. No one gave much for his chances, except Frank Lampard, the former Chelsea coach, who was already crazy about the Moroccan international. Today, the 28-year-old player has become indispensable for Chelsea. His influence on this team is growing, just as Frank Lampard had predicted. The Blues’ attacking midfielder has scored 7 goals and provided 4 assists in all competitions, thus having a better second season than his first at the club (6 goals, 4 assists).
