Casablanca Tramway: 9 Stations to Close for 2 Weeks During Underground Passage Construction

Nine tramway stations, located between Derb Ghallef and Aïn Diab, will be temporarily suspended from July 20 to August 5. Reason given: need for work.
According to the explanations of the company, RATP Dev Casablanca, operator of the Casablanca Tramway, work to build a trench, an underground passage, at the Ghandi intersection, involving technical and passenger safety aspects, will be carried out. As a result, operation on the section between the Derb Ghallef and Aïn Diab stations will be temporarily closed.
Speaking to the press on Thursday, July 18, 2019 in Casablanca, Philippe Ratto, Managing Director of RATP Dev Casablanca, told the media professionals that operation of this section would resume on August 5. He added that line T1 and the rest of line T2, from the Anoual interchange station to the Sidi Bernoussi terminus, are not affected by this measure.
Casa Transport is the delegated project owner in charge of the work. The mission assigned to it is the construction of a retaining bridge under the tramway platform, which could allow for subsequent intervention to dig the underground passage.
An information campaign for passengers, supported by a communication system, has been deployed to reach the general public, said the Managing Director of RATP Dev Casablanca.
