Casablanca Police Shooting Leaves Two Dead in Arrest Gone Wrong

An investigation was opened this Sunday, July 7, 2019, by the Prefectural Service of the Judicial Police of Casablanca, in order to determine the circumstances of the use of his service weapon by a Chief Police Inspector. He had shot at four young people in an act of self-defense, killing a boy and a girl.

According to a statement from the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN), the preliminary findings of the investigation reveal that the police inspector had proceeded to arrest four young people, including two boys and two girls, in an advanced state of intoxication.

The four individuals, suspected of being involved in criminal acts and in possession of knives, had shown fierce resistance, forcing the inspector to use his service weapon. The gunshots fired by the policeman left no chance for the two young people.

The bodies of the two victims were transferred to the morgue for the purposes of autopsy, while the investigations are ongoing to determine the identity of the other suspects and to collect the testimonies of people present during the intervention.
