Casablanca Resumes Major Transit Expansion with New Tram and Bus Line Tenders

After a few weeks of freezing, the SDL in charge of mobility in Casablanca, signs its return by launching a series of tenders related to lines 3 and 4 of the tramway and the 2 lines in BHNS (high-level bus service) mode. These are decisive contracts that will mark the start of the work on the lines.

Following the preliminary work which concerned "the relocation of underground water, electricity and telecommunications networks as well as the transplantation of trees located on the future tramway platform", Casa-Transports is now moving on to the next phase, namely "the selection of service providers for infrastructure works, rolling stock platform, studies on the network". Several of these tenders had been postponed or canceled due to the confinement period.

The openings of the bids for all the tenders are scheduled successively in June and July. The SDL is concerned to make up for the delay accumulated in recent weeks. And the first on the list is the one relating to a study for "the development of the traffic plan in the areas of influence of lines 3 and 4 of the tramway and lines 5 and 6 in BHNS mode". The opening of the bids is scheduled for June 16. Two weeks later, it will be the turn of the contract relating to "the supply of rolling stock for lines 3 and 4 of the tramway". At this level, the opening of the bids is scheduled for June 30. As for the infrastructure works, they will be the subject of a bid opening on July 7, reports l’Économiste.com.

It should be noted that Casa-Transports has also launched tenders for the acquisition of contactless transport tickets or tickets for lines 1 and 2 of the tramway, in order to reduce the risks of spreading covid-19, specifies the same source.
