Casablanca's Maârif District Bans Satellite Dishes in Radical Urban Makeover

The Maârif district in Casablanca has now banned the installation of satellite dishes. This measure is included in its urban development plan and could eventually apply to the entire economic capital.

Maârif is about to change its appearance. This is evidenced by its urban development plan. According to the Casablanca Municipal Council, the project has been filed at the headquarters of the Casablanca municipality and the district. From October 10, 2025, the file and a special register will be made available to citizens, professionals and people interested in urban affairs. They have one month to submit their comments and proposals on the project.

The new development plan for this district imposes a white or "cream" color on residential facades, while completely prohibiting the installation of satellite dishes, reports the website Rue20. As for the novelties, we can mention among others the transformation of the villa area behind Gandhi Avenue into a R+3 building zone, the modification of Abdelmoumen Avenue will also be modified, the construction of R+9 residential buildings in the area behind Zerktouni Avenue and the construction of R+5 residential buildings at the Derb Ghallef interchange.

Other novelties: the transformation of the area behind the Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy into an R+7 residential area, the commercial market of Derb Ghallef into a public space, and an empty space behind Roudani Avenue into R+10 buildings or a hotel up to R+12 floors. It is also planned that Bir Anzarane Avenue will accommodate R+6 buildings.
