Casablanca Cracks Down on Illegal Beach Parasols and Unauthorized Car Guards

Casablanca wants to put an end to the dictatorship of illegal car guards and the anarchy of parasol renters who disrupt the tranquility of vacationers in the tourist area of Ain Diab.

Despite the decision taken by the Casablanca municipality last January, individuals in yellow vests, acting as car guards, continue to reign supreme on the public domain in Ain Diab. "The fake car guards are illegal and prohibited in the Ain Diab area, and this decision was made in recent months," said Moulay Ahmed Afilal, deputy mayor of Casablanca, to AlAyam24. However, all the authorities concerned must intensify surveillance to put an end to these people who disturb citizens during their summer vacations." Faced with this reality, the "municipality has not yet determined the method that will be adopted in this tourist area," but "it is planned that the call for tenders will be launched to delegate this service to a company, or to install parking meters to replace the illegal car guards," he assured.

The anarchy of parasol renters also continues to resist time. Aware of the situation, the municipality has decided to launch "in the coming days a call for tenders for the distribution of licenses to private entities that will be responsible for managing and operating the parasols and catering areas on the Ain Diab beach," said the deputy mayor of Casablanca. According to him, this issue will be better managed this year. "This year will be different from previous years, an iron hand will be applied to the usurpers of the public domain on the Ain Diab beach, and the specifications provide that 20% of the parasols will be allocated to the delegated company, while 80% will be available to citizens," added the municipal elected official.
