Casablanca to Install Parking Meters, Curb Illegal Car Guard Fees in Tourist Areas

The municipal council of Casablanca has found a solution to put an end to the rise in prices of "parking lots" set by car guards in tourist areas.
The municipal authorities of Casablanca seem to have heard the cry of distress of motorists who complain about the exorbitant rates (between 10 and 15 dirhams) imposed by car guards, on Saturdays and Sundays on the Aïn Diab corniche, and other tourist areas that are crowded during this summer period marked by high temperatures. They intend to generalize parking meters, reports Aljarida24. A solution that will allow parking to be organized in a transparent and fair manner. The parking meters should help set uniform and stable prices, thus making it easier for motorists to know the cost of the service without having to negotiate with the guards.
Ahmed Bayoud, founding president of the association "With Consumers" welcomes this solution. According to him, the generalization of parking meters could be an effective measure to solve this problem, as it would guarantee citizens and tourists a car parking service at reasonable and organized prices. This solution will not only improve the image of the city, it will also strengthen the feeling of security and stability among all motorists, he added.
